percorso viaggio nell arte 3

A guided school tour at the Royal Palace of Portici, where students will explore the multimedia Herculanense Museum, the lavish Royal Apartments, and historic gardens, immersing themselves in art, history, and archaeology.

What to expect

The route will wind through the antechambers and rooms of the Herculanense Museum, which recalls the eighteenth-century Ercolanese Museum in a multimedia key.

You will admire the majesty of the royal staircase from the "sea side" and you will walk through the private apartments of the Royal Family, which house memories of sovereigns and illustrious guests: Charles of Bourbon, Maria Amalia of Saxony, Gioacchino Murat, Carolina Bonaparte, Pope Pius IX.

The route will wind along the royal staircase "Vesuvius side", adorned with statues from the Theater of Herculaneum. The visit will culminate in the lower gardens, where time seems suspended, here among eighteenth-century benches and fishponds, every detail tells of the charm of a past that is still alive.

This visit will allow you to:

● Discover how modern archeology was born: you will understand how archaeologists studied and interpreted the past.
● Relive the emotion of the Grand Tour: you will follow in the footsteps of the great travelers who admired the wonders of Italy.
● Rediscover the eternal value of our cultural heritage: you will appreciate the beauty and richness of our past.

Reggia di Portici - MUSA

History, architectural elegance, archaeology, nature, rare plants, regal decorations, refined rooms and the look that plunges into the blue of the sea that frames a breathtaking view.
Visitors to the Royal Palace of Portici will be amazed: so much wonder in a single ticket?

The royal site of Portici was built before the Royal Palace of Caserta at the behest of the King of Naples Charles of Bourbon and the Queen Amalia of Saxony. The sovereign was looking for a sublime place to devote himself to hunting, his wife wanted to live happy days surrounded by nature and the landscape between Vesuvius and the Gulf. So Portici immediately conquered their hearts.

Today, thanks to the museums managed and maintained by the Musa Centre, visitors can enjoy a multidisciplinary "full immersion".

Over time, in fact, the complex of the Royal Palace of Portici became "a place of accumulation of memories of art, of historical-scientific and landscape memories" and is still today "a place of contrasts in which the archaeological soul and the scientific soul live". Since 1935 it has housed the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Naples Federico II.
