A hands-on experience in the historic Botanical Garden of Portici! Guided by experts, children will use a map to explore plant species and learn fascinating botanical facts, developing observation skills and ecological awareness in a fun outdoor setting.

What to expect

In the vein of great explorations, young visitors will be guided to discover the garden history of the Portici Botanical Garden and the plants it hosts.

All participants will gather at the "base camp" where, divided into teams, they will receive a map and they will have a time to explore the historic garden. Then the guide will show them a detail from search and, once found, the location and name of the plant will be noted on the map.

Once the search is finished, the little explorers, accompanied by the guide, will verify the correct one identification of details and their curiosities and botanical notions will be revealed.

Objectives: sharpen observation and orientation skills; discover the first elements of different plant species (from detail to whole); encourage ecological and eco-sustainable behaviour respecting the environment and making biodiversity appreciated

Recommended age 5-10 years

Reggia di Portici - MUSA

History, architectural elegance, archaeology, nature, rare plants, regal decorations, refined rooms and the look that plunges into the blue of the sea that frames a breathtaking view.
Visitors to the Royal Palace of Portici will be amazed: so much wonder in a single ticket?

The royal site of Portici was built before the Royal Palace of Caserta at the behest of the King of Naples Charles of Bourbon and the Queen Amalia of Saxony. The sovereign was looking for a sublime place to devote himself to hunting, his wife wanted to live happy days surrounded by nature and the landscape between Vesuvius and the Gulf. So Portici immediately conquered their hearts.

Today, thanks to the museums managed and maintained by the Musa Centre, visitors can enjoy a multidisciplinary "full immersion".

Over time, in fact, the complex of the Royal Palace of Portici became "a place of accumulation of memories of art, of historical-scientific and landscape memories" and is still today "a place of contrasts in which the archaeological soul and the scientific soul live". Since 1935 it has housed the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Naples Federico II.
